I am so sorry to hear about Ray Nakamoto passing. Thank you Nick and Clay for letting me know. I will miss seeing him at one of the stores shopping. We always had time to stop and chat. Depressing to hear of one of our classmates passing, especially at holiday time. DH

Hi everyone, I visited with Donna Switzer the other day at a store here in John Day. Supposed that everyone was aware that she is living in a foster home in Canyon City. I do not have her address but will try to send it later. She does not drive but has friends here to help her. I don't think that she had any of that in Washington. She is doing well and comes to Senior meals, shops , goes out to lunch,( those things that retired women like to do!).

Hope that everyone of you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day.

Love, Margie

Hello from Iowa. We've had a busy summer with visits from the grandkids. This month our granddaughter from Florida totally surprised us. She brought our great grandson to see us for a week. Then this week we are going up to Bible Camp & visit our grandson Aaron & wife Anna. He is the Program Director there.

Hey there you ol' Valites! I dug out my digital photos, since I didn't see any other full class reunion ones here. So, maybe our computer expert will post them!
Glad that some of us (from the former days, but still friends) try to get together once a year, and sometimes we really do it! Seems more and more important each year, as they are flying by so quickly. As Margie said, trying it again this Fall - and at Jeanette's Bend home! We are "breaking it in for her and Bud"! :< )

Hi everyone, Was so happy to see that the site is up and running again. Hadn't checked it for a while since I couldn't find it last time. Was great to read all the messages that have been sent. Thanks Clay. Am looking forward to a gathering with Jeanette, Carol, Ginny and possiblly Mary before winter! Summer always keeps me busy attending vacations with my three children and families. Next outing is the coast with youngest son Jon for a few days. Then it will be going to the Umitilla County Fair where the Pendleton grandkids always participate with animals, etc. They are growing up too fast. But I am so blessed. Hope that our "class workers" will plan another reunion soon. They are such fun. Love, Margie

I saw Florence Shaffer Purvis in Portland as we both have season tickets for the Broadway Plays on the same day. She sends greetings to everyone. She does not have a computer. She is doing well, but her oldest daughter is not. Has anyone remembered that it has been 55 years since we graduated??

I see Mary Danilson about once a month when we get together with a group to play pinochle. She and Bob just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Dee Hendricks

I haven't been to the site for some times. It is always interest and fun to hear about others in our class.
Bud and I went on a working mission with the church in Vienna, Austria in March. Work was correct! It was interesting and educational. We bought a house in Bend which needed work. It is a block from the school our one and only granddaughter attends. This gives us time to spend some quality time with her. In Bend we have no TV or internet. Actually it hasn't been that bad. Bud said, "Before he retired he had weekends but now between our home and the other house we work seven days a week."
Blessings,
Jeanette

I do enjoy reading the messages of the classmates. I wish more classmates would leave a message now and then. We will be up in Idaho and Utah in July but won't be able to get to Vale this year. We will try to make the next reunion though. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

Happy 2008 everyone;
We hope everyone has a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Blessed 2008. We are sorry we didn't get to attend the last reunion in September. We were actually vacationing in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We were in the Northwest in May attending a Grand daughter graduation from Utah State and were there again in December for her wedding. If everything goes as planned, we will try to visit Vale this summer after a family reunion in Bear Lake, Idaho. We enjoy the letters everyone write so keep it up. If you ever come through Texas, stop by. We Love YaAll Don and Odell Udy

What a privilege to get to have the "nostalgia experience" with 3 classes - most of those from '54 I hadn't seen in more than 50 years (just the same HA!) I look fwd to more in the future - and idea of several classes from the 50s era appeals to me.

Thanks to all for making the class reunion this past weekend a great success.
We surely do enjoy seeing so many of our old friends. It always seems like there is never enough time to get to spend with each one. I guess we'd need days and days rather than just the weekend.
We can do it over the e-mail and with this page. It doesn't take the place of face to face visiting, but it sure is better than not hearing from or seeing each of you....and time flies by so quickly.
It was also really great to see the members (and spouses) of the classes of '52 and '54. What fun!!!
If any of you get to Vale, we'd love to have you stop by or give us a call.

My mother passed away this summer and recently I was going through a box of her old pictures. She kept her family snapshots together, generation layered upon generation. Shirley, John Maxwell's sister's name was Marguerette, and she was in our class 1953. She did not come to our 50th Reunion, but I did the reunion book and she sent information for it. I even called her and had a nice visit. She should be able to give you information about John. Her e-mail three years ago was jkeetch@jccomt.com. Her address was Vacaville, CA 95687, and her last name is Keetch. Phone: 707.455.0872. Is Richard Kendall Andy Kendall's brother. The address I have for Andy is 3787 Country Line Road, Emmett, ID 83617. Phone: 208.365.4062. No e-mail address was given. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone, Clay, so glad that you are keeping this great site going. You know that it was Tom Switzer who filled me in about it. He is missed by many in this community. His service was very nice held at the Episcopal Church in Canyon City. Many people attended. Was so good to see Jerry and Joyce there. Also Mary altho I didn't get to talk with her. I saw Donna awhile back and will get together with her again soon. I did enjoy getting to visit with Carol and Jeanette in Salem this summer. Missed having Ginny there. I will be seeing Mary (Moore) Panzeri in October for a trip to New England area. Hope that our class and who ever else will be having a reunion again soon. My brother-in-law (Jack Inman's) class seem to have them every other year! Hope that everyone has had a healthy and happy year so far. Until next time, blessing to all. Margie Wagner

Yes, Clay, thanks for all you do for the class of '53. I am glad to see all the recent postings. I see Jeanette (Van Horn) once a month for coffee. We make it a point to meet in Salem at her favorite place, Starbucks. We can sit there and visit as long as we want--which is usually two hours. Jeanette and I met Ginny one day this summer for lunch, and when Margie Wagner is in Salem to see her son we try to get together--which Jeanette and I did with her one day this summer too. We have not been to Vale for two years even though my husband does have a younger sister who lives in Ontario. Hope all of you are enjoying the rest of your life.

Clay -
You are ever faithful!
In Aug. our immediate family (14 of us) spent a week on 2 houseboats & a ski boat on Lake Shasta. This was to celebrate my entrance into
my 7th decade and a once in a lifetime family gathering in a captive
environment! I strongly recommend it! Planning on going to the Pendleton Round-Up -- first time ever! Can hardly believe I have not done it before, since I'm an Eastern Oregonian!
I agree with Jeanette -- time for more reunions -- esp. of the'50s! Go Nick!

I'm glad we're back up & running. Thanks Clay! I lost my mother, Lois Hart June 11th & it was her wish to be buried in Vale. So we held a memorial service for her July 12th at the Vale Christian Church.
I can not express how much it meant to me when Bob Harrod helped me make the arrangements. Then Bob & Shirley Harrod, Wanda & Pat Palmer, Nick & Susie Eddy & Darwin Smith & his wife were there for us & came to the service & the members of the Vale Christian Church opened their arms to us & provided a wonderful meal afterwards. Everyone should have such friends who are good to know & even after all these years are there to support you. Thanks again!

Nice to see the web site again. I guess I have been among the missing since Dec. 2004. Several classmates around our Treasure Valley, but hardly see anyone. It is a shame. Did have dinner with Bob and Mary (Smit) Danilson a couple of weeks ago. Our newest venture is buying a couple of ATVs. Leaving our seven head of horses in the pasture, we have been riding with a group of ten other wheelers around the country. Sure has been fun. Youngest of the group is 68 and the oldest is 78. Called the golden oldies. Buy for now, until the next time.

Nick Eddy <neddy@fmtc.com>
Vale, Oregon
Hi!
Just a quick note to say we survived hosting our annual Eddy Family Reunion here in Vale this past weekend. As most of you may remember there were 11 kids in the Eddy family. We are now down to four....Elaine, in Hereford, Clayton in Vale, Nick in Vale, and Edward in The Dalles.
We really enjoyed seeing around 100 relatives and friends in attendance. We actually hosted about 60 people at our home on Friday evening when we treated them to a pit roasted pig with all the trimmings, etc. We then enjoyed a big potluck on Saturday noon at the air conditioned gym in the Vale Christian Church. Many showed up for breakfast at Denny's in Ontario on Sunday morning and several came back to have lunch at our house on Sunday afternoon. (We went to Ontario for breakfast because most of the people were staying in motels in Ontario.)
Many took a tour of the Vale murals. Vale now has somewhere around 40 murals, I believe, and it is quite a treat to see all of them. We have a mural society which coordinates the selection of artists and what the painting will be. They all have the same theme built around something related to the Oregon Trail.
If you get to Vale and you haven't seen them, it's worth the effort and the time to travel around town to see them. (Vale isn't that big as you may remember.) The U.S. National Bank here in Vale has prints of all the murals posted around on the walls, so you can get an idea of what they look like just by walking into the bank.
Hope we can get something put together for the Fabulous Fifties reunion for this fall.
Nick

Hello everyone. Donna and I are trying to stay out of the heat and not succeding very well. Saw Bud and Delva Koopman last week and they are both fine. We were on our way the next day to Yakama(an Indian girl straightened me out on how to spell it) to watch our grandson (6'4" and 235 Pounds) play in the Shrine football game. He is going to the College of the Siskious in Weed Ca. His West team lost by 6 points but he had a great game as def end and linebacker. Grandaughter is a firefighter paramedic in Seattle and this was one of her busier weeks. It is good to hear from all of the former Vale people. Take care and stay cool. Tom & Donna Switzer

Just thought I should check out the notes to classmates - and thanks to Clay, now have the website in my bookmarks and can once again find it! Looks like a bunch are as negligent as I -- not many new messages!
I have a different e - address now, so make note of it -- the one that is underlined will not work now that one was vms@pacifier.com. If the new one is there, it will get to me: gwns3778@pacifier.com. So far so good in getting rid of too much spam!
Would be fun to see classes of the 50s getting together -– either if at Homecoming (though that may not be a good time to travel) or another time. Thanks Nick, for offering to help coordinate!
I am heading to Spokane this week for a college reunion @ Whitworth. Would be my husband, Bill's 50th. I am going to represent him as he was president of that class his senior year. Only other big plans this summer are for my whole nuclear family to spend a week houseboating on Lake Shasta! Just having us all together will be a miracle, and the excuse is that I turned 70! How about you, hmmmm? Have a good summer.

May 07, 2006
John L. Hart <johnhart29@mchsi.com>

Just a note to say hope everybody has a GREAT SUMMER! Recently I caught myself humming Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" because the Lord has truly watched over me. First I had a pacemaker put in then a stint all prevenative stuff that kept me from having a stroke or a heart attack.
So I'm feel' good and ready to go! First, we atteded a graddaughter's wedding in Florida. Then back again to a grandson's graduation. Next,we'll celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! Then off to Pennsylvania for another grandson's wedding. "And I think to myself, what a wonderful world. Oh yeah!
